DMW (Formerly POEA) Updates: New Registration Requirements for 2026
The Department of Migrant Workers has updated registration requirements for OFWs. Here's what changed and how it affects your deployment process.
By AbiWorkers Compliance Team
POEA is Now DMW
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) replaced the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in 2023. All overseas Filipino worker registrations and deployments now go through DMW.
Key Changes for 2026
1. Online-First Registration — The DMW has moved most registration processes online through the DMW Online Services portal. Physical visits are now limited to document verification and interviews.
2. Enhanced Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) — PDOS is now mandatory for all first-time OFWs and includes updated modules on digital literacy, financial management, and mental health awareness.
3. Stricter Agency Compliance — DMW-licensed agencies must now submit monthly deployment reports and maintain digital records of all worker placements. Non-compliance results in license suspension.
4. OFW e-Card Integration — The OFW e-Card is now integrated with the DMW portal, serving as your digital ID for all government transactions related to overseas employment.
What This Means for You
If you're planning to work as a domestic worker in the UAE, you'll need to: register on the DMW portal, complete the enhanced PDOS, obtain your OFW e-Card, and ensure your recruitment agency is DMW-licensed.
Required Documents for 2026
Valid passport (6+ months validity), birth certificate (PSA-authenticated), NBI clearance, medical certificate from a DOH-accredited clinic, TESDA certificate (if applicable), and a completed DMW registration form.
How AbiWorkers Helps

Timeline
The full DMW registration process typically takes 2-3 weeks, assuming all documents are complete. Delays usually occur from incomplete or improperly authenticated documents.
